Advanced Practicum Available
The Fetal Alcohol and Environmental Exposure Clinic at the Marcus Autism Center, a Division of Children’s Health Care of Atlanta, has a Practicum Position available for the 2010-2011 Academic year. We are seeking an advanced level graduate student in Psychology or Counseling who has completed assessment and child development course work and seeks to refine his/her assessment and therapy skills through a well supervised clinical experience.
The Clinic serves children, ages 0 to 21, with a variety of exposures as well as those who come from families affected by substance abuse and associated factors. Children referred to the clinic receive a multidisciplinary evaluation for diagnosis and treatment planning and consultations are held with parents, teachers and other school personnel and with personnel from other agencies. In addition to differential diagnosis (to rule out genetic disorders and other exposures), the Clinic provides social work services, educational interventions and psychological services. Practicum students will develop testing and diagnostic skills and have the opportunity for therapy experience depending on their level of training. Students must be available on Wednesdays for Clinic. Supervision is provided by Emory faculty and other licensed professionals. For more information, please call Claire D. Coles, Ph.D. at 404 785-9362 or email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
