With the incidence of ASD rising rapidly (and budgets decreasing), plus the political drive for best practices and inclusion through No Child Left Behind and IDEIA, students with ASD impact many classrooms throughout Georgia and the U.S. Many teachers are struggling to find ways to meet the needs of all students. This conference will introduce participants to practical strategies based on current best practices which can assist with the education of students with ASD in schools and in inclusive settings. In addition, the keynote address by Mr. Scott Crain, winner of the Phil Pickens Award and featured researcher Jonathan Campbell, Ph.D. will highlight the challenges of chasing and achieving the dreams for the student with ASD, and how to increase the acceptance by their typical peers. Whether the student is diagnosed with Autism, PDD-NOS, or Asperger’s Disorder, whether the profile is mild, moderate or severe, research based strategies for promoting success in your classroom and home will be discussed. Professionals and families will find important information to support K-12 students with ASD.
