Urs Nater, Ph.D. |
Dr. Nater was born in Zurich, Switzerland. He completed a PhD program in neuroscience at the University of Zurich and the Federal Institute of Technology, Switzerland, in 2004. He has been working as a psychotherapist (cognitive behavioral therapy) at the Outpatient Clinic for Behavioral Medicine at the University of Zurich from 2002 to 2005. Dr. Nater came to Emory University School of Medicine as a post-doctoral research fellow in 2005. He is also a fellow at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), where he is working at the Division of Chronic Viral Diseases. He has research interests in the neuroendocrinology of stress and functional somatic syndromes, such as chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) and functional gastrointestinal syndromes. He is the recipient of several scientific awards, such as a Young Investigator Award (International Society for Psychoneuroendocrinology, ISPNE, 2005), Young Scientist Award (Swiss Society of Psychology, 2005), Scholar Award (American Psychosomatic Society, APS, 2006), Early Career Award (International Society of Behavioral Medicine, ISBM, 2006), Irmela-Florin-Award (German Society for Behavioral Medicine, 2007). |
