How to Apply

Thank you for your interest in Emory University General Psychiatry Residency Program.

We offer 11 first year positions and a limited number of second year positions for General Psychiatry.  We only accept PGY-1 applications for the NRMP Match through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS): (https://www.aamc.org/students/medstudents/eras/). All applications are reviewed for consideration of invitation to interview.  The deadline for applications is December 31.  Applications will be downloaded beginning September 15.

Interviews are scheduled by invitation in October, November, December, and January.  Each year we typically receive more than 800 applications and interview approximately 100 candidates.

If applying for a PGY-2 position, you may apply through ERAS or you may submit a paper application to the Residency Education Office. Please click here to download the paper application.

In summary, criteria for all applicants:

  • Application materials including:
    • Application
    • Dean’s Letter
    • Medical School Transcript
    • Personal Statement
    • USMLE, COMLEX, or FLEX scores
    • CV
    • Three letters of reference
