Do you have any unfilled positions for the current year?
We currently do not have any unfilled positions.

What are your application requirements/criteria? 

  • USMLE Transcript Step 1 and/or COMLEX Transcript

  • Personal statement

  • Minimum of three letters of reccomendation (ERAS allows you to submit up to four)

  • Dean's letter or Dean equivalent letter

What is your application deadline?
The application deadline for applications is December 31. 

What are the required minimum USMLE scores?
We do not have a minimum score requirement, however, scores are considered in application evaluation.

What is the maximum number of attempts accepted for the USMLE examinations?
We do not have a requirement for the maximum number of attempts; however, multiple attempts for USMLE Step 1, 2 or 3 decrease the likelihood of being invited for an interview.

Can I apply if my Step 2 score is not yet available?
Yes, you can apply if your Step 2 score is still pending, however, please submit it as soon as it is available. 

Can I apply if my ECFMG certification is still pending?
Yes, you can apply even if your ECFMG certification is still pending, however, you must be fully ECFMG certified by December 1, 2013.

How many letters of recommendation do I need?
We require three letters of recommendation.  ERAS allows you to submit up to four.  We do not require a letter from the Chair but you are welcome to add one.

When do you hold interviews?
We hold interviews in October, November, December and January on an invitation only basis.

Do you sponsor visas? 
Yes, Emory University currently sponsors J-1 and H-1B visas.  International graduates intending to apply for an H-1B visa will need to have passed USMLE Steps 1, 2 & 3 by February 15, 2014.

Do you require US clinical experience?
We do not require US clinical experience, but it is considered in application evaluation.

Do you offer observerships/externships?
No, we do not offer observerships or externships. If you are currently in medical school and are interested in a Visiting Student Elective, please visit http://med.emory.edu/admissions/howtoapplyvisitingmedstudents.cfm.

Do I qualify for your program?
Please review the application requirements to determine your eligibility.  We cannot predict your chance of obtaining an interview as we receive over 800 applications each year and strive to choose the most promising applicants for interviews.
