Dr. Mahoney joined Emory University’s Child and Adolescent Mood Program in March 2012. She also focuses on Clínica Latina para el Tratamiento de la Depresión at Grady Memorial Hospital. She was born in Mexico City and was raised bi-culturally in Los Angeles, California. She earned a B.A. in Psychology from Loyola Marymount University. She holds a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. She has varied training experiences, including working with cancer patients at RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago and working with patients in whom impairments of cognitive or neuropsychiatric functioning were evident or suspect at the University of Illinois at Chicago. She also completed her internship in Clinical Psychology at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago. She completed a one-year post-doctoral fellowship at Kennesaw State University in Georgia. Her areas of interest include health psychology, depression, bereavement, trauma, mindfulness, and cultural diversity. She is fluent in Spanish.
