The
Work Setting:
The Emory
Consultation-Liaison Service (C-L) is based on the sixth floor of
the Emory Clinic B Building in Suite 6100 (The Psychiatry Suite of
Emory Clinic). Members of the C-L service respond to requests from
other medical teams throughout the Emory Hospital to provide psychiatric
consultations on their medically inpatients. Examples of patients
requiring consults would include heart and liver transplant candidates,
patients with mood disorders, delirium, dementia, somatoform disorders,
impaired decision-making capacity, and other psychiatric problems.
Attendings
Expectations of the Students:
On the
C-L service students are expected to develop mastery of the skills
and knowledge related to the diagnosis of delirium and depression
in the medically ill and to develop competence in evaluating other
psychiatric disorders in this population. Students are expected to
read extensively, actively participate in teaching rounds, didactic
seminars, case presentation, and interview and write up patients.
