The Work Setting:

The Emory Inpatient Unit of Emory Hospital is located on the Fourth Floor of the Emory University Center for Rehab Medicine located at 1441 Clifton Road, N.E. Student on this service work primarily in an inpatient setting. This unit can accommodate 18 patients. The average length of stay for patients is 1 week. Patients admitted and seen on this service have major psychiatric illnesses and are often being treated for comorbid medical illnesses as well.

Attendings Expectations of the Students:

On this service students are expected to:

1.) Participate in team activities, particularly daily rounds, clinical, diagnostic and treatment discussions.
2.) Be assigned individual patients for further clinical evaluation and case presentations to their respective attendings.
3.) Conduct live interviews, whenever possible, in order to familiarize themselves with the facility's clinical population.
4.) Attend didactic lectures tailored to their level of training, Grand Rounds, Journal Clubs and other academic activities.
