The Grady

Hospital on the C Wing. Members of the consult service respond to
requests from other medical teams to see patients in medical and surgical
wards to provide psychiatry consultations on referred patients. Examples
of patients requiring consults would include heart and liver transplant
candidates, patients with problems associated with suicide attempts,
as well as, patients with depression, mood disorders, delirium and
dementia and other psychiatric problems. Patients seen by members
of the consult service have comorbid medical conditions as well
Attendings
Expectations of the Students:
Students
initially will evaluate new consultations with one of the psychiatric
residents of the service. Later on in the rotation, students will
see new consultations independently, and the residents will be available
for supervision of the cases. Students will present their patients
(typically one or two new consultations per day) to the attending
at rounds, which take place once or twice a day.
