Work Setting:
The Grady
Inpatient Unit (13-A) is a 23-bed unit with patients to be seen on
an in-hospital setting. The average length of stay for these patients
is 18 days. Patients on this venue are admitted for major psychiatric
disorders. Many patients also have substance abuse disorders complicating
their treatment. Students working on this service work primarily with
residents and the major focus of treatment are done in the inpatient
setting.
Attendings
Expectations of the Student:
On
the unit, the Students are expected to:
1. Conduct
psychiatric assessments and perform physical exams under the supervision
of a resident.
2. Attend the following conferences: morning rounds, walk rounds,
case conference, psychopharmacology lecture, and 13A unit meeting.
3. See assigned patients daily and write daily progress notes.
