Meet Our Team

Joseph F. Cubells, MD, PhD

J.CubellsJoseph F. Cubells, MD, PhD, is Director of Medical and Adult Services at the Emory Autism Center, as well as Associate Professor in the Departments of Human Genetics and Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, at the Emory University School of Medicine.  His academic research focuses on genetic factors and gene-environment interactions influencing risk for neurodevelopmental disorders. He is also leading a collaborative project with colleagues at the Emory Autism Center, the Emory University School of Public Health, and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities on developing better services for adults living with autism in Georgia.  Dr. Cubells has been at Emory since 2004, and prior to that was on the faculty of psychiatry at Yale University School of Medicine for nine years. He completed his undergraduate studies at Johns Hopkins University, and his medical and graduate training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.

Danielle Belva, MSN

D.BelvaDanielle Belva, MSN, APRN, completed her Master’s Degree in Nursing from Georgia State University in 1999.  She is a Board Certified Psychiatric-Mental Health Clinical Nurse Specialist with 21 years experience working in neurology and mental health nursing.  Danielle has worked with children, adolescents, adults and geriatric populations, as well as experience working with the Community Service Board in the residential developmental disability division and residential substance abuse program.  At the Emory Autism Center, Danielle works closely with Dr. Cubells and Dr. Almeida in the Psychopharmacology Service.  She is also part of the EAC team working on a collaborative project with the Emory University School of Public Health and the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD).  She plays a lead role in the myLIFE program as Clinical Coordinator providing support to adults 25+ years of age.
