Application

We require a complete application (including personal statement), medical school transcripts, Dean’s letter, USMLE/ COMLEX scores, and letters of recommendation.  One of your recommendations must be from your psychiatry training director; it must include information on your status regarding eligibility for the psychiatry boards, (i.e. whether you will have completed general psychiatry requirements when you leave your current program).  Please see the attached information about what items are required for your applications.

Our program participates in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry MATCH.  The rank order list date is in mid-December with a notification date in January.  You must register in the MATCH through the National Resident Matching Program.  Their website is http://www.nrmp.org/.

Our program requires that applicants have passed part III of the USMLE.  We require that residents in the program obtain a Georgia State medical license and a DEA license.  For additional information, please see the Emory University Resident Handbook (available on the Emory University GME website, http://med.emory.edu/GME/) and Composite State Board of Medical Examiners website at http://www.medicalboard.state.ga.us/professional.html.

Once we have received and reviewed your completed application we may contact you to arrange an interview.  Applicants spend the day meeting with various faculty and current residents and visiting two of our sites.  Generally, interviews occur from September to mid-December on designated Wednesdays.

We appreciate your interest in our program and look forward to hearing from you. More information about Emory University is available at http://www.emory.edu.  The Atlanta Chamber of Commerce has information on the city at http://www.metroatlantachamber.com.
